Home Renovations

Talk to Skyline about how to make your home more energy efficient
Energy is vital to the comfort of our homes, but as energy costs rise it is important for us to be more energy efficient, not only to reduce costs, but to reduce our carbon footprint. Skyline is a registered contractor under the Home Energy Savings Scheme.
There are two main ways to reduce energy costs in the home.
• Use less energy
This is achieved by improving the insulation to reduce heat loss. Use of high efficiency boilers and heating controls, and use of double-glazing
• Use energy from a renewable source (Green energy)
Renewable energy sources include solar panels, wind turbines, ground source heat pumps (geothermal) and biomass woodburners.
Insulation
Insulating your attic and walls can reduce your heat loss by 40%.
Skyline Construction is an SEAI registered contractor. We can upgrade your attic and internal wall insulation to improve your Building Energy Rating. This will make your home greener and save on energy bills. Grants are available – see the SEAI website.
Solar Panels
Solar panels can provide 80% of hot water needs of a typical family home in summer, and 20% in winter. This is free, clean energy. Solar panels can pay for themselves in energy savings in under 10 years.
Where Skyline has installed solar panels, homeowners have found their energy bills are greatly reduced and they have free hot water during the summer.
Boilers
When doing renovations or upgrades, we recommend upgrading your heating to include a high efficiency boiler. Grants may be available to cover some of the cost.
