Home Renovations

Skyline's home renovation projects generally focus on older properties in the Dublin area and can involve anything from underpinning unsound walls to restoring ornate plasterwork. Most renovation jobs will necessitate rewiring, replumbing and replastering the property to upgrade an older period house to a modern family home while still retaining its period features and charm.
We also install hardwood floors in many of our renovation projects. Other upgrades can include underfloor heating, insulation of exterior walls, energy-efficient boiler, and skylights.

Garage Conversions

A vast percentage of families in Dublin use their garage for storage, without realising that storage and living space can both be achieved in this area. Skyline Construction can help you convert that unused garage space into a home office or play area for the children. Depending on the layout of your house, a connecting door can be made to the main home, or a separate entrance if desired. Also a space can be left aside for you to continue using some of it as storage space. Few garages in the Dublin area are used for anything other than storage, which can be easily done with a garden shed, freeing up premium space under the roof of your house.

  • Front brickwork or plastering can be matched to existing front.
  • Windows installed.
  • Electrics, flooring, new ceilings and plastering all installed.

Remodelling your home

Generally focusing on either a specific room in the home, or a small defined area, re-modelling your Dublin home often involves changing the layout of your kitchen or bathroom, possibly knocking out walls to create an open plan living and dining space or maybe installing patio doors or a deck.
You can improve the appearance of your home by installing new interior doors, architraves, skirtings, and hardwood floors.

Talk to Skyline about how to make your home more energy efficient

Energy is vital to the comfort of our homes, but as energy costs rise it is important for us to be more energy efficient, not only to reduce costs, but to reduce our carbon footprint. Skyline is a registered contractor under the Home Energy Savings Scheme.
There are two main ways to reduce energy costs in the home.

Use less energy

This is achieved by improving the insulation to reduce heat loss. Use of high efficiency boilers and heating controls, and use of double-glazing

Use energy from a renewable source (Green energy)

Renewable energy sources include solar panels, wind turbines, ground source heat pumps (geothermal) and biomass woodburners.
Insulation

Insulating your attic and walls can reduce your heat loss by 40%.
Skyline Construction is an SEAI registered contractor. We can upgrade your attic and internal wall insulation to improve your Building Energy Rating. This will make your home greener and save on energy bills. Grants are available – see the SEAI website.
Solar Panels

Solar panels can provide 80% of hot water needs of a typical family home in summer, and 20% in winter. This is free, clean energy. Solar panels can pay for themselves in energy savings in under 10 years.

Where Skyline has installed solar panels, homeowners have found their energy bills are greatly reduced and they have free hot water during the summer.
Boilers

When doing renovations or upgrades, we recommend upgrading your heating to include a high efficiency boiler. Grants may be available to cover some of the cost.
