Malahide, County Dublin

Structural Steel elements with well chosen interior finishing

About This Project

The owners of this 1970’s house in Malahide, County Dublin wanted more space downstairs so a single storey extension to the rear was designed. The build involved the removal of the entire back wall of the house at ground floor level and the installation of steel support beams. Keeping the steel above the existing ceiling level ensured that the new extension joined seamlessly to the existing house. A new utility room and downstairs loo were fitted in to what was part of the old kitchen and a pocket door installed between hallway and kitchen. The removal of the downstairs walls gives an open connection between kitchen, dining area and living room.
The upstairs was remodelled to create a new family bathroom and the removal of the hot press allowed space for a luxurious en suite with bath.
